Alright, so Ford showed up at the North American International Auto Show with the most impressive Ford Fusion model we've ever seen. And, they continue to win awards for their safety innovations and new designs (just wait until you see the 2013 Ford Escape). EcoBoost engines, MyFordTouch, MyKey technology, hybrid and electric vehicle options and SYNC technology are just a small sampling of all the things Ford has been working on lately.

Hearing all that, it's no wonder that consumers at AutoTrader.com voted Ford as today's most innovative automaker. More than 38 percent of those polled on the site selected the American car maker as the most innovative, with BMW and Toyota pulling up in second and third places, respectively.

According to Rick Wainschel, VP of Automotive Insights at AutoTrader.com, "Over the last couple of years, Ford has continued to introduce exciting new vehicles, enhancments and redesigns and has been leading the charge in utilizing unique online methods to reach shoppers, which have combined to bolster their image substantially."¹

More specifically, Ford introduced their EcoBoost V6 engines in trucks and SUVs that traditionally used V8 engines. Thereby upping the fuel-efficiency of their larger models without sacrificing power or performance. Other impressive powertrain changes include the introduction of more hybrid and electric models. The current Ford Fusion gets an impressive 40 mpg combined, but the 2013 concept hits the 45 mpg mark and the upcoming Fusion Energi (EV) will reportedly break the 100 MPGe mark.

Ford also implemented FordSync, a voice activated driver interface that utilizes text-to-speech technology. With this, drivers can control their music, cell phone and other third party apps. MyFordTouch is similar, with a touch screen that allows the driver to access their iPod and navigation systems as well as other pertinent features like climate control.
