Listen and Respond to Texts Via Ford and SYNC

So you're heading down the highway and you hear your phone go off. And you've been waiting for that text all day. So what do you do? No, you don't pick the phone up and read it right away. It's against the law in most states, not to mention dangerous. Lucky for you, Ford knows just how tempting it is to use your cell phone while you're driving. Which is why they've recently updated their SYNC software to read your text messages for you.

That's right. The most recent (and free) update to Ford SYNC includes the Message Access Profile (MAP) feature, which streams and reads incoming texts out loud. Allowing you to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. SYNC even comes with pre-programmed simple responses so you can answer right away via advanced voice-recognition software.

While there are only a limited number of smartphones that can work with this software as of yet, Ford agrees with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), when they say that "Texting is becoming a ubiquitous part of our day...so it stands to reason the remote message access profile is an essential addition for handsets, automobiles, headsets and aftermarket car kits."1 And, the Blue Oval hopes that this will be the first step in setting an industry standard of collaboration between vehicle manufacturers and the mobile phone industry.

How can you get this in your Ford? SYNC, G1 V3.2.2 works with Generation-1 equipped Ford models from 2011 and 2012. Drivers with SYNC equipped vehicles can see if they're eligible for the upgrade by visiting www.syncmyride.com and entering their VIN. Users can download the software to a USB-drive and then plug it right into their vehicle's USB port to complete the update. It's that easy!

If you have a SYNC-equipped Ford and would like to learn more about this or any of the other upgrades from Ford, feel free to give Keller Bros Ford a call at (877) 873-9963. Or stop in and see us during our regular business hours at 250 Schaeffer Rd Lebanon, PA 17042, we're happy to walk you through all of the advanced technology available in all the new Ford models.
